It's Time for New

Hello Beauties,

Do you know that beauty products have an expiration date?

Yes, this is correct! Our skincare and makeup products do not have a 20 year shelf-life after opening. Some of our makeup bags and bathrooms should lighten up after this post. Haha!

Most skincare brands will place an expiration time on their packaging.
For example,  24M = 24 months.

However, I find with makeup products that is not always the case.
An easy tip for tracking...

For products that do not have an expiration labeled, you can take a marker and write on the product or on a small sticky label and apply to the product bottle/casing the month and year that you opened it. Doing this can help with knowing when it is time to part ways with your favorite product. I know it can be so hard to say goodbye sometimes. But we do not want to use products that may be swimming in bacteria! YUCK!

Wet makeup products will expire quicker than powder products. They are a breeding ground for bacteria. Wet meaning liquids, and creams (foundation, mascara, liquid liners, etc.). Powder meaning eye shadows, blush, etc.

Suggestions for the Toss

Below are suggested expiration dates unless your product states otherwise.

  • Mascara: 3-4 months
  • Creams: 12-18 months
  • Liquids/Skin Care: 12-18 months
  • Eye shadow (powder): 12-18 months
  • Face Powders: 24-36 months
Anything separating or developing an odor please discard.

I hope you find this helpful and you become more attentive to the expiration on your products from now on. Now off to labeling/purging those products, because we say "NO" to skin irritations and bacterial infections to say the least.
